I understand why it's possible TIBW is not going to do well in countries where it went straight to DVD. Because of the following reasons : It hasn't been in theatres, so there were no commercials at all. Not on TV, not in magazines, no posters in the Streets. Most people simply don't know about 'Burt Wonderstone' being out there. As for the DVD/BR-release, again, WB is doing nothing to promote it. Nothing at all. Even if people would know about 'Burt Wonderstone' being a movie starring Jim Carrey, how woud they know it's already for sale?
I have a lot of movie-loving friends, but I'm Always amazed that
-when we go to a theatre- they say things like "Is there a THOR 2 coming!?", "Man of Steel ... Is that something about Superman? When is it coming?" - "They are playing it for 3 weeks now." or "Do you have the DVD of The Smurfs 2?" And that's about big blockbusters you would think everyone knows about, specialy when those people are online all the time. Can you imagine how little people know about Burt Wonderstone?
Heck, last week I saw this comment on the Flemish WB facebook-page : "Yesterday I saw the first trailer for Burt Wonderstone, has it been in theatres already?" So ... That's what's wrong. WB doesn't give a bleep about this movie, they gave up on it.
There's also the negative vibe going on with Burt, "It's a huge financial flop.", "The reviews are terrible.", "They cancelled this all over the world." ... Not good for selling.
Found some sites,
http://www.the-numbers.com/http://www.officialcharts.com/No sign of Burt Wonderstone, but there are a lot of countries where it hasn't been released. I guess (for example) the UK-numbers won't be that bad, maybe.
