"The Number 23" DVD Press Release:

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 26, 2007) – The “23 enigma” is everywhere -- dates, times, names and the most momentous and catastrophic events in history. On July 10, 2007, the dark obsession and hidden power of the number is unlocked as the psychological thriller, "The Number 23", arrives on a special edition infinifilmTM DVD from New Line Home Entertainment. Jim Carrey (Dumb & Dumber, The Mask) stars as family man Walter Sparrow whose life spirals out of control when the chilling murders in a mysterious novel begins to parallel his own life, leading him into a world of uncontrollable paranoia. Directed by Joel Schumacher (The Phantom of the Opera, Phone Book), the film also stars Virginia Madsen (The Astronaut Farmer, A Prairie Home Companion) and Logan Lerman (Hoot, The Butterfly Effect). Reveal the secrets of the enigma with an “All Access Pass” to filmmaker commentaries, deleted scenes and making-of documentaries. Then, go Beyond the Movie™ with never-before seen featurettes to decode the phenomenon behind the number 23. The DVD will be available with in both unrated and R-rated versions at a $28.98 SRP, and the order due date is June 12, 2007.

Walter Sparrow (Carrey) is just an ordinary dog catcher living an ordinary life when certain seemingly random events lead him to a book called “The Number 23” by Topsy Krets. The fictional story interlaces a crime drama with a conspiratory look at the magical number 23. Walter is amused by the similarities between the main character named Fingerling, and himself. However, when the book continues to be eerily similar to his life, Walter becomes obsessed with finding out why. When Fingerling murders the leading lady in a fit of passion, Walter must figure out what is real…and what is fiction.
