Auditioning for "Man On The Moon"
25 Feb 1998

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Milos Forman asked four A-list stars to send him audition tapes if they’re interested in portraying Andy Kaufman, in Forman’s "Man On The Moon", the biography of the late comedian.

Forman, who also directed "Amadeus", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "The People vs. Larry Flynt", is said to have sent tapes of Kaufman to Nicolas Cage, Jim Carrey, John Cusack and Edward Norton, asking them to send him their auditions on video.

Even if this is a rather unorthodox approach, considering that these actors are top movie stars, it was stated by the Hollywood Reporter that "a source close to the project" said the actors are "fine" with Forman's conditions.
