Casting Calls, Locations and "Irene"05 May 1999
As you already must've heard by now, Jim Carrey has a brand-spanking-new project with the Farrelly brothers (of "Dumb & Dumber" and "There's Something About Mary" fame.) This project called "Me, Myself and Irene" will be filming very soon at several locations of Rhode Island and Vermont.
Jim Carrey will be playing a Rhode Island state trooper suffering from split personality, and Renée Zellweger ("Jerry Maguire"), will be the love interest of both his conflicting personalities. Many Boston comedians as Steve Sweeney and Cam Neely are also said to have parts in the movie. On a recent Variety article it was additionally reported by Michael Fleming that 280-pound, 28-year old Anthony Anderson ("Life") will be playing one of Jim Carrey's three black sons in the movie.
Casting calls for extras were done last weekend in both states and according to reports sent to JCO, the attendance in Burlington was overwhelming, with approximately 3000 persons showing up at the Sheraton just on Saturday. The movie is said to require about 600 non-speaking parts for the scenes to be shot in Vermont and about 400 more for the Rhode Island ones.
The locations reportedly being eyed by the production crew in Vermont are mainly located in the Chittenden County area, with a few others in Addison and Washington Counties. Addison county's Middlebury will probably be the chosen location for the movie's end scene, which is said to require for some extras too. Some filming in the town of Addison will also most likely occur.
