An animated film with Jim

Post by CinnamonGirl »

Saw this in the Hollywood Reporter (sounds pretty cool -- I'm gonna check out the cartoon its based on):

LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- DreamWorks Pictures has recruited the comedic talents of Jim Carrey and Garry Shandling to voice lead characters in its CGI-animated project "Over the Hedge," based on the comic strip by Michael Fry and T. Lewis.

The film marks the first animation voice work of any kind for Carrey and the animated feature film debut for both actors, according to the studio. "Hedge," pegged for a 2005 release, will be the second computer-animated project to be produced entirely at DreamWorks' Glendale animation studio following the upcoming underwater comedy "Sharkslayer."

Tim Johnson ("Antz") is directing "Hedge" from a script by Len Blum ("Private Parts"). Bonnie Arnold is producing.

In the project, Carrey will voice the mischievous con artist raccoon R.J., while Shandling will be the voice of a sensitive turtle named Verne. The story follows what happens to R.J., Verne and their wilderness friends when a suburban housing development encroaches on their home in the forest. Verne's first instinct is to retreat into his shell, but the opportunistic R.J. sees a treasure trove to be had from his unsuspecting new neighbors in the strange new world known as suburbia.

Carrey, repped by UTA, Gold/Miller and attorney Debbie Klein, most recently starred in "The Majestic." He next stars in "Bruce Almighty" for director Tom Shadyac. Shandling, repped by Endeavor and Gold/Miller, also lent his voice to a pigeon in 1998's "Dr. Dolittle."

here i go again, supposed to be signing off. but , after all the yacking I did on this thing,

it made me come up with another idea for the boss( mostly because I would walk away with a

silent expression that was myserious and caused people to constantly ask me" what's up? why

are you giggling? why are you so quiet, Lisa?)

so my other thought and even after majestic for work idea for Jim was a SILENT MOVIE

we do it already right here. he probably already thought of it though... love you..

That is so great! I always hoped Jim would lend his voice to an animated feature! He will be great at it! But 2005 seems so far off!

Melanie

Hmm... the character designs look weird if not plain (except for RJ the raccoon). And the animation, will it be similar to the "Prince of Egypt" and "The Road to El Dorado"?

*TaKe KaRe NoW |

| BuH ~ BYe THeN*

RE: is it definite?

Post by li »

is it definite or what they were hoping for? I like 7/14 stip in term of action and color best.

what made them pick it or agree to it? the voices of Jim and and Gary will definitely make

it come alive. maybe its what the caroonist always envisioned.

the art is a little subdued in 2d but 3D would be another sight.
