ok then, Spoonful of Sugar reminded me of this song, so what's this song:
They're not all that impressed with conversation
True gentlemen avoid it when they can
But they dote and swoon and fawn
On a lady who's withdrawn
It's she who holds her tongue
Who gets her man
pretty easy

Cotton, you are right I had the author wrong, I realized it later, when I was at work.
JT, if that's easy, I feel really dumb
but I like the words
When I see the word "Man"
I think of the song:
"Stand by your man, give him two arms to cling to.......
Love you can, when you STAND BY YOUR MAN.
Tell me JT or anyone else.
What's JT'S SONG???

Ya know I thought it was from The Little Mermaid but I wasn't sure. see if you can guess the name of this song
Come on down to the mermaid cafe and I will buy you a bottle of wine and we'll laugh and toast to nothing and smash our empty glasses down.
I think this one is even easier than JT's was.lol

You guys are so right, I must be in my DUMB mode this week.
I should have known "The little mermaid"
I should also know this "Mermaid cafe" but my brain must be fizzled
this week.
Isn't there a song called " Bottle of Wine"
Sorry, I'm stumped on the" Mermaid Cafe"

I will give you some hints:
1: This female singer had lots of hits in the 60's and 70's and is still very popular today.
2: The words to this song have nothing to do with a particular person but the name of it the does. And like Canadian Jayne said" Stand by your man" This man needs somebody to stand by him.
Am I confusing anybody?lol
I will wait and if nobody figures it out I will give you the answer tommorrow.
STILL THINKING ON THIS ONE!

The song is Carrey by Cyndi Lauper! We sang a Cyndi Lauper song at my high school graduation, I forgot which song it was, funny too cuz it's very popular.

I had no clue Cyndi Lauper sang this song. The version I was talking about is from Joni Mitchell who is one of my favorites.
Carrey
The wind is in from Africa
Last night I couldn't sleep
Oh, you know it sure is hard to leave here Carrey
But it's really not my home
My fingernails are filthy, I got beach tar on my feet
And I miss my clean white linen and my fancy French cologne
Oh Carrey get out your cane
And I'll put on some silver
Oh you're a mean old Daddy, but I like you fine
Come on down to the Mermaid Cafe and I will buy you a bottle of wine
And we'll laugh and toast to nothing and smash our empty glasses down
Let's have a round for these freaks and these soldiers
A round for these friends of mine
Let's have another round for the bright red devil
Who keeps me in this tourist town
Come on, Carrey, get out your cane
I'll put on some silver
Oh you're a mean old Daddy, but I like you
Maybe I'll go to Amsterdam
Or maybe I'll go to Rome
And rent me a grand piano and put some flowers 'round my room
But let's not talk about fare-thee-welIs now
The night is a starry dome.
And they're playin' that scratchy rock and roll
Beneath the Matalla Moon
Come on, Carrey, get out your cane
And I'll put on some silver
You're a mean old Daddy, but I like you
The wind is in from Africa
Last night I couldn't sleep
Oh, you know it sure is hard to leave here
But, it's really not my home
Maybe it's been too long a time
Since I was scramblin' down in the street
Now they got me used to that clean white linen
And that fancy French cologne
Oh Carrey, get out your cane
I'll put on my finest silver
We'll go to the Mermaid Cafe
Have fun tonight
I said, Oh, you're a mean old Daddy, but you're out of sight

lol *tries to imagine how Cyndi Lauper would sound singing Carrey* I am not to sure I would like that version.lol
When Canadian Jayne said Stand by your man all I could think of was Jim and than when JT said Poor unfortunate souls from The Little Mermaid all I could think of Mermaid Cafe so I combined them and came up with Carrey. I am good aren't I?
