Jim drops out of Walter Mitty
According to this article, Jim is no longer attached to Walter Mitty.
Owen Wilson is going to do it.
I'm a little bit happy about this. Forget about the remakes, Jimmy! There are lots of other roles for you that are fresh, new and ORIGINAL!

Bad, bad news - Walter Mitty is the one role I most wanted to see him in. Yes, the movie is a remake but guys the original was done in 1948 (nearly three generations ago). The average movie goer of today probably has not heard of Walter Mitty much less seen the movie. In playing Walter Mitty, Jim would be doing multiple characters in a role that is perfect for his improvisational skills.
What is really peculiar is that there is no Jim Carrey movie project (that I know of) out on the horizon (not including Dick and Jane). No Six Million Dollar Man, no Walter Mitty, no Da Vinci Code, no Hedgehog (or whatever the animated movie was called). Bewitched has come and gone. Ditto Hitchhikers Guide. Is Jim on a sabbatical? I need a Jim Carrey fix now. What is up next guys? Who has Jim's phone number ? (kidding)

Actor OWEN WILSON will recreate DANNY KAYE's most beloved role as dreamer WALTER MITTY in a long-awaited remake of the 1947 classic THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY.
The project originally began as a vehicle for Jim Carrey with STEVEN SPIELBERG directing and has since passed through the hands of directors like RON HOWARD and CHUCK RUSSELL.
The new film will be directed by MEAN GIRLS movie maker MARK WATERS.
In the original movie, funnyman Kaye played a daydreamer caught up in a jewellery heist. In the remake, Wilson will fall for the daughter of a bank robber, according to trade paper Daily Variety.

*sigh* I read about Owen Wilson being in Walter Mitty in the paper... I wish that Jim would pick up a new project soon... or maybe he does need a break. I don't really know anything about Walter Mitty, so I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad about Jim not being in it...

Only Jim knows when he needs a rest. Jim Carrey, however, seems like the last person who would take a year or two off from films. He always seems full of energy and on the go.
Having followed Carrey's career, I can't remember a time when there weren't four, five or six projects listed on Jim Carrey web sites (this one being the best) as possible future projects. It seems odd that there are currently no future projects with Carrey's name attached. And because I believe he is not the type to go on a self imposed vacation (he has given no interviews to my knowledge saying he was taking time off) it makes me a little curious.
Hopefully all is well and we will hear about upcoming Carrey projects soon.
