Seuss yarn leaves Carell emotional

Co-star Jim Carrey was accompanied by girlfriend Jenny McCarthy for the special screening.

Carrey, who has previously starred in Dr Seuss tale The Grinch, joked to reporters that he couldn't remember his favourite Dr Seuss lines: "I will not do those rhymes in a box, I will not do them with a fox, I will not do them here or there, I will not do them anywhere."

However, the actor did confess to loving playing Horton the elephant: "It's very freeing. I felt a little self conscious when I was shopping - I didn't get a lot of attention that normal thin people get."
