Jim Carrey to Speak at The Maharishi University
21 May 2014

By Eva Araújo (Web correspondent)

At this point is easy to understand that the goofy comedian Jim Carrey is much more than just that. Not only has he proven himself as a great actor but also he has shown to people his value, opinions and views on the world. His spiritual side is very clear and since Jim has always tried to make the world a better place in his own way, it doesn't surprise us that he was invited by the Maharishi University in Fairfield, Iowa to be the commencement speaker at the University of Management's graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 24, 2014.

The commencement ceremony will take place in the Golden Dome on the Maharishi University campus, starting at 1:00 p.m. The community is also invited to attend.

But talking to the students isn't all Jim will do. In recognition of his significant lifetime achievement and the joyful gifts he has given to the world, the University Board of Trustees will present Carrey with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Honoris Causa.

"Mr. Carrey's wisdom, deep clarity, and compassion - as exemplified in his profoundly charming book, How Roland Rolls - has captured and inspired many of us in this meditating community," University professor and Trustee, Dr. John Hagelin, says about the book. "The classical message of Vedanta, of enlightenment and universal love, so charmingly told and accessible to children, is a precious contribution to humanity in its own right."

This is actually not the first time Jim has been at the University, since in Fall of 2013 he spoke to students in the new David Lynch Master's in Film program who Jim supports.

Needless to say that we are all very excited and proud for Jim since we know that he deserves that honor, very very much and we're happy for those students who will definitely learn something more than what they knew.

We at JCO will keep you all updated as more news come and we invite the students at the University to share with us not only how it was to meet and hear what Jim had to say but also footage.

Our team will also keep you updated as more news arrive.
